Our Mission
W.E.A.P.O.N., is a response to a demand by African women and girls to have easy access to education and forum where their voices can be heard. With respect for local culture and values we work closely with communities to fund, cultivate and create education and arts initiatives, ensuring the opportunity for women and girls to become more self reliant.
CENTRAL TO OUR WORK
We are commited to:
- ensuring that work we do is not driven by our ideas, ideals or cultural practices but by the women within the communities in which we are involved
- providing resources and forming strong partnerships driven by the importance of arts and education as a means of promoting self reliance and economic stability within a given community.
- tailoring our approach to be culturally sensitive, collaborative and value the needs of the communities we are working in, while continually striving to maintain programming that is sustainable and grassroots driven, promoting an environment of self reliance.
- to fostering dialogues with girls, women, and community leaders about creative solutions to oppression and gender inequality.
